I am working on getting a domain name (maybe the-board.xyz), I also find the comment about people just installing forum software to be true, I don't like it when people just go on Softacolous or something and just install a forum.

Well, it already exists, but it's only for mobile/narrow screens as I think that the navbar with all the buttons is better than a hamburger menu sidebar

Yeah, you can change it so if you want from the setting to - show no community posts, show only from communities you are in, and show all posts from all communities.
